The Days of The New

The advent of sleep hung on his head. The lack of stimulants stumbled across his tired body. Illness plagued his chest and back. The pain of suffocating slowly lingered. It was not the night of nights and he was sitting across his blank screen. He was waiting for something to emerge from the mesh of words that crisscrossed his thoughts ever so quickly. Mumbling musings of an old tale, he could keep himself in this state for eternity. There was nothing to attend to.

She came up to him sleepily from the bed. Taking the time to give him a loving embrace from the warmth of her bodice, she kissed him on the cheek as the cigarettes burned endlessly on the ashtray beside him. Once more, she whispered in his ear the words that would always convince him to leave the illustrious state of dullness. The gray walls echoed the flawed words of the music that emerged from the speakers of the computer.

“It’s all the same. Once again.”

He kissed her back, slowly taking the time to lock lips with her. There was no tongue for it was sweet and not passionate. It was bleak but not meaningless. It was soft. She understood his state, so close to an epiphany of sorts that would eventually cause him to write another masterpiece. Disturbed by the physical realm of reality, his link to the alternative mental truth was severed.

It was another day, another musing, another mindless run of the mill scenario, another empty passing of time and life. Breaking from a habit that emerged every year, taking up the three months of the hottest of the season, it was never quite the same each time. Each time, a longing progressed into his soul, and yet, he wanted the new. He wanted the new, but never stopped wanting the old.

How did she know him so well? He never wondered past the question. He just enjoyed it. He just loved her, regardless. It was not strong, nor was it too timid. The perfection of it all waned reality such that he believed that he did love and at the same time forgot how to. Such was the perfection of the situation.

Another change of music, another change of scene, another change of life’s lessons, another change of dreams. A fling of jealously for comrades who progressed far into the future, while his being was of the past, rendered in the present, and only developing slowly into the near future, kept him at bay. He wanted to move up the ladder; fast. It was impossible due to the constraints of certainty, but nothing was impossible when done out of love. He did it for love.

Fingers poised at the keys, he typed out his work, his heart, his passion. He brewed it from the depths of the empty nothingness that kept him awake at night. He mixed it in with the slight sweetness of life’s little joys. All held together by the porcelain walls of text, the recipe was just right. There was no creamer to soften the strength of the piece. There was nothing to soften the blow of the veracity of existence. Verily, the facade was no more a veneer of human narcissism. Emerged in the black mixture was the visage of life. It was all quite real to the taste however perpetually false to the flavour. Bitter.

“Welcome back.”

She whispered as he joined her upon their bed. The chamber of thoughts locked away once more. He kept it safe, hidden, and would only expose silhouettes in the form of words. The sun was nearing its incumbent return to geographical vision, and he closed his eyes. His arms wrapped themselves peacefully and lovingly around her warm body. She huddled in, savouring the vibrant act of love. It was a good night for her, as it always was, being loved by him. It was never a good night for the writer, kept awake endlessly. He laid himself there, eyes open, in thought. There was no sleep for his mind, yet there was peace in his heart. It was a good night for his soul.

Good for change. The guitars sung them a song that granted him a well earned, and hard pressed moment of sleep. The fresh daylight hours had finally arrived, bringing about the false promises of productivity. He could scream out in a frenzied calm, alas he did not. He slept peacefully in the hopes that tomorrow was a fulfilled promise of beauty. Never was it so hollow.

Let The Rain Run Its Course

They let the rain run its course around their intertwined fingers. It soaked them, their clothes, their hair, her glasses, and his goatee. He wore a pair of torn cargo pants and simple t-shirt top that referred to an obscure band name and she wore a doctor’s uniform. He smiled as he listened to her stories, and incessant blabbering. At some point, he would laugh and say something vaguely interesting to relate to her story before she’d switch the topic again. Fickle… It wasn’t derogatory, it was bubbly; charming, really… At least they wouldn’t run out of things to discuss. Not that the world has a limit to that, though. The interest didn’t wane, to say the least. He’d wait for her to smile, whenever she’d figured something new to discuss. Sometimes he’d wait for her to slow herself down to a halt, noticing his lack of words. Then he would smile, and she would mouth the words “I love you.” Winking to him at times had his grin grow wider. He would reply, in turn, saying the same thing, this time with added vocals, to break his silence. They were slightly amused by the ironic reciprocity of actions.

They never let go, throughout their walk. Their hands were firmly held, apart from the rare times when she’d use a little action to help elaborate her idea. She would always shift around, though their hands were locked. Her fingers would often times extend, as if revealing her palm, and then return to their original hold. Other times, she would squeeze his fingers, which seemed to move only because of her hands actions. His entire arm seemed lifeless once he’d clamped on to her fingers. Wherever she moved her arm, his arm followed. His figure depicted contentment, as if he’d been doing it for a while now. His body movements did not reveal any anxiety to the situation. Hers on the other hand, seemed hyperactive. Their and bodies still synchronized well.

I watched them as they walked along the road, from distance to distance, talking and walking. They did not seem to see anybody else, but they seemed to see everything. I walked towards them, and soon enough, passed them, my eyes never leaving the sight. The gray clouds matched the colour of my smoke, and I finished my cigarette, finding some solace in the distraction that was the two lovers. I was walking towards the bus stop, heading home to meet my own sweet lover. Flicking a little ash off of the stick, I took in another drag from my slightly wet cigarette, looking back and eyeing them still, as they left my field of vision; heading towards the main road. I turned and flowed away. Let the rain run its course.

God Save The Trees, Long Live The Trees

You grow like you know,
You know you are very strong,
You, the mighty Tree.

Towering around,
The true King of the Jungle,
Ruler of Forests.

Hundreds of feet high,
You are nature’s best creature.
And surely, you live.

You don’t feed on life,
And you can provide for such.
You feed the weaklings.

Great is your power,
Your sacrifice aids all life,
A servant to all.

They chop and stab you.
Yet you do not seek revenge,
You suffer but smile.

The storm will brew, but,
You provide them a shelter,
Until your last breath.

You the Timid Beast,
Take all with you when you fall,
But you live in peace.

The perfect leader,
Your rule is just and righteous.
Father to your sons.

One day all will sing,
Your chants and praises galore,
But indeed I know:

“God will save the trees!”
They sing but no word is meant,
“Long will live the trees!”

The Dog Feed Article 2

The Dog Feed

As some of you may know, I have been questioned on my article by a number of people, from both UPLB and outside sources, and I wish I could elaborate further on the replies of others without stirring up a rather large argument, however, I fear that if I do not I will bring about a world of trouble for my article’s credibility. I’d rather not cause a riot, but here goes: (*Before I begin: Please do not take this personally, again this is my view, and this is for the Dog Feed. In no way do I wish to harm reputations or cause a stir, I just want to show my point. Thanks.)

The point that I made earlier still stands even though there are those who are supposed to be good at heart. With the shit that I said in my last article, I am entirely aware that not everyone is the same. I am not stupid, but take a look around, the public isn’t either. They know that I generalized and they know in their hearts that there are more than “1 in 3 candidates” (quoted from a current standing official in the UPLB Student Council) who actually want to do something, but what they do is what counts. However, again, if you look at it through public eyes, the interest that the voting population would sustain would probably be just until they finish the free food given to them. They don’t really care that you say you are different. You can fuck with their wordplay until they bleed letters from their ears, but it won’t really matter. They care that you show your point, not just stand and verbally defend. If you wanted to do so, prove me wrong with your actions while you still can. That’s what people care about. They care if they see you go outside and take a piss on someone’s deserving face, but they do not care if you talk and talk for hours on a podium. For a shitload, actions speak louder than words. (Not that I care, I’m just writing the Dog Feed for fun.) The problem is: every one of these people there who try to defend themselves against a vague article on student politics that was directed at the candidates, are generally candidates. With just that, you’ve already sold yourself to the branding machine.

Now to further elaborate on why my point still stands; even those that are good at heart try to shield themselves from the inevitable questioning that will ravage their image like a starving tiger seeing a lonely antelope on a vast plain. Now, by defending yourselves, you’re just proving my point. You guys didn’t have to come out and say that you were innocents to the fuckery that was said in the other article. If you didn’t then you knew yourselves that you were innocent and that you did a pretty damn good job. However, since you did, it just shows that you guys are trying to protect your image, without me actually accusing you of the fuckery in particular. You try to defend your comrades as well, hence shoving my point twice as far up reality’s ass. If you wanted, you could’ve sent the same message to me alone, but instead, you guys wished to come out and say it here in the open. It’s the image that counts in politics. See? Comparing this to a playground situation, let’s say that one asshole kid wants to be leader, and then towards the end of the day in the playground, one of the other kids decides to try and shove a mental dildo up his cocky ass by saying that all the kids who have been leaders are the same. Note that he does not fuck about by saying that the leader as of now is the redundant bastard. So now this leader kid replies that no, I am different and nicer, which is generally what the other bastard leaders did. See the point? To put it plain: Defending yourselves verbally ain’t gonna do shit. Prove me wrong by acting on it, and then the public will get at you. I’m giving you a free pass to use my article to boost your image, and yet you guys choose to tank me on this instead of making the public see you for yourself.

I am just here to speak and speak and speak. I’ve built an image so that people around the internet forums respect my ideas and such. Now I’ve given you the chance to use my article as a springing step. Hell, I even cursed a lot in the article, making this shit almost like trash. You could’ve bought yourself an eternity of worship by proving me wrong with this and that. Instead, you tried to attack a more simplistic concept, the concept that everyone is different and that you yourselves are innocent to the accused topic (which was pointed at the general direction of the candidates [not naming names] and not the current running officials). This just proves my point that the campaign in about image, and that majority of the people wouldn’t care or even read this goddamn reply. Good day.

The Dog Feed Article 1

The Dog Feed

So we get a couple of pretty candidates to run for Student Council Office…

I suggest that all political parties just talk, and not advertise themselves, or go out to shake hands with passersby, telling them to vote for you. Earlier today I received handshakes from my friends who were members of the Buklod (UPLB Political) party as I was going about my schoolwork. On most days they would give a friendly wave or smile, and we walk past each other as if we each had our own distant world to conquer. I’m not saying I do not appreciate it, nor am I saying that I’d like to ruin friendships, but let’s step back a bit. (I’ve voted for Buklod before.)

We are Students, not the average junkies or squatters and bums who roam the streets poor as fuck. We’re not cavemen either, nor are we people whose minds can easily be fucked with. We can think. We can speak. Not to brag, but we do this better than a shitload out there. Now here’s the point I’m trying to make. Let’s not be gullible, nor let us be swayed by the simplicity of free food and other trinkets. Look and listen to the candidates, but never do it one at a time.

You see, language is like a whore. It can take many positions to satisfy different people. Pleasing in good ways for some, bad ways for others. That can’t be helped. Some people just won’t like the choice of words of this specific candidate. No, I’m not telling you to be open minded about the words. As I’ve said, words can be shape-shifted to mean this and that at the same time to different people. Now, if we mix the words with the body language. Disregard the fear and the shyness, and you can see who really means what they’re saying, and whose guts are in the right place. Watch your candidates, see if they feed that lonesome dog near LB Square. Look at your candidate when he/she is not campaigning and listen twice as clear then. Siphon the bullshit and you’ll get what’s what of the candidate.

Politics (election campaigns in particular) should not be so trivial. It should be gut. If everything was trivial, then we might as well have hired robots to finish the job for us, since we humans cannot be trivial 100% of the time. Nor can we manage to be relative for others while maintaining triviality. The essence of election campaigns is to win the public over. Now in what way do I suggest people go about it. I suggest people dispense with the bullshit, dispense with the plans and forms and structures and fucks. I suggest they stand on that podium, and talk about themselves. The best judge of character would be the reaction among friends and family, classmates and teachers. If people would just shut the fuck up for a while and talk like a regular person, and not like a candidate, then people would be able to choose.

It’s not the problem of the voters, who vote for the candidate of their choice, it’s the problem of the candidates. They lie, give false smiles, shake hands with no meaning to it, and do all sorts of fucked up things that end up making others see an obvious plastic mask distorting what was once a friend. Fuck. Right? Now I challenge the candidates, when they go about school, not to wear their Candidacy ID’s, not to wear the shirt of the party they represent, and not to wear that mental mask. I challenge them to go out for one day, and campaign to the people like the people. Talk and walk, cut classes, rush with people, eat with people (don’t buy them food), and just look at the lives of your voters and see what is really fucked and what is really trivial.

I may not be a candidate, and I doubt I should ever be one, nor do I have a feeling I want to, but I think that this is how a candidate should go about his/her campaign. I’m just your average insane bastard walking among you. Good night.

Delayed Merry Christmas (It’s Amazing How The Simplest of Stories Can Make One Cry)

So yesterday, I was at a hotel for Christmas day, and surprising to say, I couldn’t get away with my way, because internet service in the room means that you have to pay. 100 Pesos an hour is really too much, so I was not able to post this soon enough, but nevertheless, here I am now, ready to share something new to the crowd.

So for all you people out there who had spent their Christmas-es alone, then that’s cool. At least the Internet always has some posts for you guys. 🙂 Here’s the post:

It’s Amazing How The Simplest of Stories Can Make One Cry

The more complex on the other hand makes one think.

The comical drive the point of the need to laugh.

The more horrific drive the point of the need to fear.

The romantic drive the point of the need to love.

The action and movement filled ones drive at the need to live to the fullest.

The musical drive the point of expression through the sounds that affect us ergo the importance of our ears.

The silent ones drive the point of expression through visuals and how important our eyes really are.

Though with all of this, it’s the simple ones that drive the point of life itself. It’s the simple ones that make us cry. Why? Maybe because we relate to them. Maybe because they’re easier to comprehend. Maybe because they’ve happened to us. Maybe because they can influence more. Maybe because the lessons learned are really useful. Maybe because we follow by example. Maybe because of all of these combined.

Or maybe.

Just maybe.

You’d like to,

Live out what actually transpired.

You’d like to live it, so you can tell your version.

You’d like to live it, so you can experience the fullness of life.

You’d like to live it, because you’ve been starved of it.

You’d like to live it, since it happens to others.

You’d like to live it, knowing what to expect or what not to.

But for me, I like the simple ones because they make me tremble,

they make me question,

they make me wonder,

they make me realize,

they make me analyze,

they make me worry,

they make me relieved,

they make me stay awake,

they make me sleep,

but most of all,

I like the simple ones,

Because they inspire.

Because,

To know the simple will give you all that you’ll ever need to make the complex.

On Religious Status Messages / Chain Messages

SOMEONE SAID:
The owner of the Titanic said, “Not even God can sink this ship.”
And we already know what happened.
Marilyn Monroe said, “I do not need Jesus.”
Three days later she was found dead.
John Lennon said, “I am more famous than Jesus.”
That same day, he was shot 7 times and he died.
A mother told her daughter, “May God accompany you.” Ironically she replied, “In the trunk because he does not fit here.”
On this trip there was an accident and everyone was killed and the trunk remained intact.
If you are not ashamed of Jesus, please re-post. (^_^)

I REPLIED:
I am not ashamed of Jesus, he was a good person in the Bible.
I am not ashamed of God, He/She is out here somewhere.
I am not ashamed of Religion, I just don’t want to pick one.
Re-posting this, doesn’t prove that anyone really cares.

If they want to show they care about their God,
Shut the hell up and follow the scriptures,
Do your deeds for the good of others, as well as yourself.
You do not need internet text, or the use of foolish pictures.

So basically, that is what I did. If people really did love their God, they would not threaten others into claiming the statement above as proof of love. One of God’s teachings is humility, of course, though one can be proud of their God, but this post steps way above the appropriate level of pride. One does not need to spread this to prove that he/she is not ashamed of their God. The statements above the last one (“John Lennon said…”) provide a subliminal threat, that, if read fully, could be taken as “If you don’t re-post this, you risk God killing you.”. This fallacy however, should not be propagated, and believably so, the Church should be against this, since it influences people greatly, about a wrong concept. Having read the scriptures, one could easily say that God (Christ particularly) would not do that. In the scriptures, God is said to have undergone a change (New Testament & Old Testament, and Noah and the Ark), which is also a human trait, which adds to the thought that God is naught but a human figment. Granted that the scripture also says that we mortals cannot understand God, per se, however, it is still poorly constructed. The summation just casts all inexplicable and ineffable loose ends into the abyss of “it is incomprehensible by humans because we lack the intellect”. This attribute is very much questionable, however, believed by many people. Not that the existence of God is false, the mere construction of the religion that surrounds God is what can be deemed as inappropriately made.

Moving back to what is said in the letter; do the Christians worship a God who can easily be irritated, challenged, and manipulated? If that were the case, then I could threaten God and He (based on Christianity) would either kill me in an attempt to accept the challenge, or simply let me win and accept my terms. This creates an atmosphere of people believing that God has some tid-bits of human nature. If God were really all knowing and all powerful, it should stand to reason that He would not take offense because God does not have Pride (one of the Seven Deadly Sins); otherwise He would have a human side, in which case God is not necessarily the all-powerful, and thus this debunks His all-goodness. Also, if one were to read the scriptures, God Himself, says that one must do things with humility; it is essential for the entrance to heaven. If one believes in God, then say so discreetly, with no irrational sub-context-ed threats to others. The mere fact that one announces that he/she prays and shows off his/her rituals is already seen as irritating to God, therefore, this act of creating chain messages that threaten or boast about their strong belief in God is an act against God himself. If the above should be claimed as “God’s mysterious ways of teaching His followers”, then we should all be dead, as should I for challenging Him. If that were the way God taught His followers, then those of other religions should have been eradicated from the start. The above statement is an assault on the scriptures that the person who created this claims to be following. What’s worse is that most of these statements and misconceptions plague the internet, as well as our cellular phones when they are passed. Some people believe it wholeheartedly and it remains in the back of almost everyone’s mind.

Going into particulars, here are some facts from the message:

–          The story about the car and the daughter has no particular reference, and could be fabricated entirely for the sake of the post.

–          John Lennon did not say he did not believe in God on the same day he died.

–          Re-Posting the message does not necessarily make you un-ashamed of your God.

Counter-statement-facts (Facts that show the opposite of the scenarios above) :

–          Hitler was Catholic and never denied his faith, and God let him kill millions.

–          John Lennon’s assassin was Christian.

–          The Church killed many people in the name of God, however, they were not stopped by God. (Does God take sides, like a human?)

–          “Religion is what keeps the poor man from murdering the rich”Napoleon (A Catholic)

–          God knew Marylin Monroe’s sentiments long before He killed her. (God is all knowing.)

–          The statement about the Titanic was “It is unsinkable”, and the statement was used proudly.

–          Re-Posting the message is a form of evoked Pride, which is a “Deadly Sin”.

Each religion should educate their followers, and their followers. Also since they (the religion’s followers) do follow the rituals and teachings of the said organization dedicated to the worship of God, they should listen attentively to the lessons of the said religion. Being an Agnostic Theist, I and my kind would prefer not to choose a religion to base ourselves upon, however, we do believe in the existence of a Supernatural Being that created us. My parents are Catholic as is the rest of my immediate family, and I am forced to attend Mass every Sunday. I may not follow the religion, but I still listen to the Priest preach to the masses. Not to preach to those who already know, and not to boast, I still see that there are many other people who are “hardcore” followers text and chat throughout the Mass, barely listening to the teachings of their religious leader. This may be the cause of the above messages. To sum it up in simple words for everyone to understand, I say:

This is YOUR religion, you ARE A PART of it, you CLAIM TO BELIEVE it. If you BELIEVE IT, FOLLOW IT, and LISTEN. OPEN YOUR EARS. THINK BEFORE YOU POST. Most importantly, DON’T FORCE OTHERS TO DO THINGS (WITH SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES OR PUBLIC ONES).

BIBLE. (READ IT!)

HISTORY. (LEARN IT!)

** This is not an assault on the Catholic, Christian, and any other Religion. It is merely a reminder to keep their followers in check.

*** I assume the creator of this post is Christian, due to the reference to Jesus.

**** Enjoy.
